Our Team

Jacques joined the firm in the early 1990s and was appointed senior partner in 2000. After qualifying as an attorney, he managed participation bond scheme before returning to legal practice in 1990.

With more than three decades of experience, Jacques is widely recognised as one of South Africa’s foremost media lawyers, having represented media for over 30 years. His expertise also spans commercial law, financial services regulation, hedge funds and medical schemes and the space industry.

Beyond his legal practice, Jacques serves on the boards of an information development company, an international satellite payload development company, a short-term insurance underwriter and a collective investment scheme management company. He is also a member of the Legal Practice Council’s Disciplinary Committee.

Pieter joined the firm as a candidate attorney and was admitted in 1994. He became a partner in 1998 and currently serves as the firm’s Managing Partner.

With extensive experience in personal injury claims, commercial litigation, insolvency law, and commercial recoveries, Pieter also leads the firm’s deceased estates administration department.
He represents a number of longstanding clients, including one of South Africa’s largest printing companies, and coordinates litigation matters on behalf of law firms nationwide. In addition, Pieter serves as a trustee and director of various trusts as well as an educational non-profit organisation

Leroy completed his articles with the firm in 2010 and was appointed a partner in 2015. His practice spans both commercial law and litigation, with clients in diverse sectors including property development, hospitality, building and construction, debt restructuring and insolvency, as well as matrimonial matters.

He also represents prominent media personalities, sports professionals, and agencies. Leroy has previously served as a trustee of a medical scheme and has held committee positions with a local sports club and various residential bodies corporate.

Laura practised as a litigation attorney for two years before qualifying as a conveyancer in 2019. She joined LMSL in 2021 and now heads the firm’s conveyancing department.

Admitted as an attorney, notary, and conveyancer, Laura oversees all aspects of the firm’s conveyancing practice. Her expertise includes property transfers, property developments, the registration of complex title deed restrictions, and the registration of commercial and mortgage bonds. She also maintains strong working relationships with a number of estate agents and developers.

Russel joined the firm as a candidate attorney, completed his articles in 2021, and was subsequently retained as an associate attorney. Russel practises in the field of civil litigation, with a focus on administrative, public and constitutional law. Over weekends Russel enjoys watching sport and is an avid wine connoisseur.

Teliza is the newest member of LMSL’s permanent staff after being admitted as an attorney in early 2026, having completed her articles with the firm. Teliza’s practice focuses on litigation, commercial drafting, family, and media law. She also manages the firm’s company secretarial matters and liquor licence applications.

Outside of practice, Teliza spends her time with family and friends and explores Cape Town’s food scene.

Pelo joined us as a candidate attorney in 2025, and she will complete her practical vocational training in 2026. Pelo is currently undergoing training in our conveyancing department, with a view to qualify as a conveyancer.

Dominic joined us as a candidate attorney in 2026. He currently assists the firm in commercial and litigation matters. Dominic shall complete his articles at the firm in 2027.
